Lifelong Learning Choices of Lawrence County, an adult literacy and GED program

The agency’s mission is to provide non-traditional educational choices that promote lifelong learning for adult residents and their families who seek to improve their literacy skills in order to successfully realize their full potential as individuals, family members, workers, and citizens. Classes help learners pass the GED®/HiSET® test, improve basic skills or develop English speaking/writing skills, in order to meet employment or training goals.

CareerLink of Lawrence County

Launched in July, 2012, PA CareerLink® is part of the Pennsylvania Department of Labor & Industry’s initiative to transform the landscape of how job-seekers find family sustaining jobs and how employers find the skilled candidates that they need. Through this initiative, a user-friendly, premiere job-matching system has been created to help bridge the gap that currently exists between job-seekers and employers.

University of Georgia’s J.W. Fanning Institute

The J.W. Fanning Institute for Leadership Development, a unit of Public Service and Outreach at the University of Georgia, is dedicated to strengthening communities, organizations, and individuals through leadership development, training, and education. Founded in 1982, the Institute is named for UGA’s first Vice President for Services, Dr. J.W. Fanning. New Castle Area School District

New Castle Area School District is an urban public school district of 3200 students with four (4) schools, and is located in Lawrence County, Pennsylvania, approximately 45 miles north of Pittsburgh. All District schools are Title I eligible and school-wide. The school district employs 225 educators and 12 administrators. Academic programs include Honors and Advanced Placement courses. Students actively participate in PJAS – Pennsylvania Junior Academy of Science competitions.
